Terms of Service
1. Nature of the Service
The Lighthouse Project provides a client portal and scheduling system for pre-arranged life coaching and relationship coaching sessions. This service is intended solely for non-urgent, scheduled coaching. It is not a crisis service, emergency service, therapy, or substitute for emergency care.
Coaching focuses on present and future goal-setting and personal growth. It is not a replacement for therapy, counselling, or mental health treatment. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department immediately.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older to create a client portal account. By using this service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Acceptable Use of the Client Portal
You agree to use the portal only for its intended purpose of managing your own sessions and communicating with your coach. You must not:
- Share your login credentials with any other person
- Attempt to access another client's records
- Submit false or misleading information
- Use the portal to send unsolicited, abusive, or harassing messages
- Attempt to probe, scan, or test the system for vulnerabilities
4. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately at privacy@thelighthouseproject.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Lighthouse Project and Andrea Merlino shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of this website or client portal, including but not limited to delays in communication or scheduling errors.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and design — is the property of The Lighthouse Project and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this site without our express written permission.
7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in King County, Washington.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above and notify active portal users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the portal after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
